The Invisalign Practice App was made available to Align customers in October 2021.
Align Technology offers digital treatment solutions for dental professionals, including the Invisalign® System for orthodontic treatment. The Invisalign System is a combination of proprietary virtual modeling software, rapid manufacturing process and mass customization, and virtually clear, removable appliances that are used to straighten teeth. The Invisalign product is prescribed to patients through Invisalign trained orthodontists or general practitioner dentists. The Invisalign Practice App streamlines the treatment process in a doctor’s practice and helps enable a higher throughput of patients using features such as InvisalignTM Photo Uploader, patient & prospect management, Invisalign® Virtual Care, Invisalign® Virtual Appointments, and Invisalign SmileViewTM.
The Invisalign Practice App is fully integrated into the Invisalign doctor website to streamline complete practice workflow by enabling doctors to manage their patients, and prospects. Doctors can use the app to create/onboard patients who signed up for Invisalign treatment and they can manage and meet with prospective patients who are thinking about Invisalign treatment. The app helps doctors remember who has shown interest in Invisalign treatment and what their lead status is. Additionally, doctors can schedule virtual appointments with prospective patients so that they can discuss their options for treatment. Once a patient has confirmed that they would like to proceed with Invisalign treatment, the next step is to take pre-treatment dental photos of the patient. One barrier for many general practitioner dentists is the process of saving DSLR pictures to the cloud. This is where Invisalign Practice App comes into play. Using the mobile device’s camera, the application can take dental images of patients. These images are then uploaded to the patient’s profile where they can be used to order Invisalign aligners. This streamlines the workflow of transferring DSLR pictures to a desktop and uploading them. It also can help doctors scale their businesses by allowing members of their staff to take pictures of patients using their personal devices, instead of having to share a DSLR camera. Since taking patient photos is a big part of the application, we have spent a lot of time refining the photo taking process. To get consistent photos, the application uses AI-guided photo capture real-time guidance. Once treatment has been started with the patient, the doctor will need to have regular in-person checkups with the patient to ensure treatment is progressing to plan. Doctors will then review the patient’s teeth to make sure everything is on track and communicate the results to the patient. Doctors also have the option of scheduling virtual meetings (Invisalign® Virtual Care) with their patients through the application. By being able to virtually meet with their patients, the doctor frees up a chair in their practice for a new prospective patient. The application allows the doctor to streamline the workflow to increase the throughput of patients.

The goal of the application is to give doctors the tools they need to optimize their workflow for treating patients with Invisalign aligners. The application touches every step of the treatment process so that the doctors, and their staffs can treat patients from wherever they are. The app will help doctors to treat more patients per year.
Supported Platforms: Invisalign Practice App is supported on all versions of Apple iPhones, iPads & Android Phones. The iOS version of the app is built using Swift & SwiftUI. The Android version of the app is built using Kotlin.
