Nomination Title: Enersponse, Inc.

As an automated demand response (DR) service provider, Enersponse delivers DR resources to utility customers, by means of fully-automated DR measures through commercial clients. The main goal is to simplify the process of participating in these demand response events. That means they do the work to enroll businesses in a program that is best fit for their sites and that will yield the largest incentive and/or rebates – ultimately, they pay their clients and their controls companies, to save energy.

When the demand for energy is higher than the supply, utility companies will initiate a DR event to shed the load of the grid. Enersponse receives a signal from the utility companies – then, through their AutoDR Platform, automatically dispatches thousands of signals to the Building/Energy Management Systems used by current clients. Once Enersponse notifies these systems of the DR event, they initiate their clients’ pre-determined energy reduction measures. Commercial and industrial buildings that participate in DR programs will cut down on the energy they consume by either dimming/ turning off specified lighting, slight adjustments of HVAC setpoints, shutdown heavy machinery, engage battery storage systems, and more. Then, Enersponse customers get financially rewarded for saving energy.

Enersponse works closely with Building/Energy Management systems companies such as Honeywell, Zen Ecosystems, Locbit, Encycle, and more to ensure that their clients incorporate the right equipment into their facilities for maximum savings. These controllers provide the technology needed to control lighting, HVAC, machinery, and other devices in the facilities to reduce the energy consumed during a demand response event. Enersponse not only provides incentives for their clients to participate in demand response programs, but also actively matches their clients with utility funding to pay for these controls/systems that enable Automated Demand Response.

Enersponse contracts with the utility companies such as SCE, PG&E, SDG&E, and more, or market partners like Leap , to enroll their customers into energy programs around the world. Enersponse has enrolled over 75,000 kWs into various demand response programs nationwide and currently have over 250,000 kW under management. With a wide range of clients including national retailers, grocers, restaurants, cities, schools, and more, Enersponse and their clients can make a positive impact on supply and demand of energy and serve as an essential grid resource. While continuing to expand and enroll more kWs and they expect to have over 100,000 kWs enrolled by the end of 2021.

There is no cost to their clients to participate in the programs offered. They simply agree to participate in a load reduction program. Enersponse then does the work to get them enrolled in the programs. Then, the customer gets paid for their participation in the demand response events called. They even get paid when demand response events are not called – they get paid to be on standby.

Not only do their clients save energy and get paid for it, but with every megawatt enrolled into a program generates 1,000,000 gallons of clean drinking water to people in need. Through a network of like-minded volunteers wanting to make a difference in the world, they donate and deliver filtration equipment to families, communities, villages and schools around the world.
