In a bid to connect with a wider audience and increase engagement through one-of-a-kind experiences, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi hosted a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ live record-breaking event in November 2021, packed with six entertaining world record challenges for guests over the course of two days to mark the first GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ live record-breaking event ever since the start of the pandemic. Hundreds of competitive spirits, friends and families gathered at Yas Waterworld for a fun-filled weekend and the chance to participate in a number of attempts to become a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title holders and be called Officially Amazing™. By going head-to-head or sometimes even pairing up, guests were able to participate in 3 GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ challenges per day and the results were truly record-breaking. The event was led by an engaging MC along with lively music playing throughout the waterpark in a lively atmosphere set to get participants pumped and ready to break world records. There to assess all the wins, a judicator was closely watching the participants as they made their way through all the activities and tried to put their names on the leaderboard.
Six new individual GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles set and memorable moments were created with every attempt. Not only did Yas Waterworld offer guests a lifetime record-breaking opportunity, but they also had access to the waterpark’s various thrilling rides, slides and attractions. At the end of an exciting event, all were delighted to be part of the ultimate record-breaking experience at this unique Emirati-themed waterpark. News around Yas Waterworld’s GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ live record-breaking event reached local, regional and international outlets and was covered in social, industry and general news sections. Radio competitions were also conducted during the pre-event communications, offering guests the chance to win entry tickets, in addition to a live radio coverage on two local channels broadcasting live on both days with the latest happenings on the ground. Press releases circulated in the media over the span of three weeks with three stories distributed pre and post-event across local and international media outlets, nothing short of amazing with social media coverage and a video edit also covered and shared online.
In terms of results, the articles garnered attention from global markets with 470+ clippings in tier-1 and tier-2 publications, covering USA (27%), India 23%; UAE 13%; Malaysia 7%; Mainland China 6%; UK 3%, Philippines 2%; Russia 2%; Singapore 2%; Qatar 2%; Others 1%. Leading outlets from around the world and news publications including Yahoo!
