- The IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) celebrated its 20th anniversary in April 2022. In the past two decades, the organization has served as the independent global thought leadership think tank for IBM.
- In 2021, IBV’s China team produced 77 reports and 2 books, generating 51 media articles and 130,000 engagements on Weibo and WeChat.
- In 2021, IBV’s Japan team produced 22 reports, which were viewed by more than 73,000 people, a 414% increase over prior year.
- In global thought leadership rankings conducted by Source Global, IBV ranked in the Top 4 for the past 12 years, ranking #1 in six of those years. Most recently, IBV ranked #2. IBV’s content rated most highly in differentiation (telling readers something they haven’t heard before that can help them NOW) and resilience (producing consistently trustworthy content).
- IBV routinely develops regional perspectives using original data collected as part of global studies. For example, the 2022 CEO study on transformational sustainability included interviews with 3,000 CEOs from 43 countries. - Drove diversity & inclusion conversations among business leaders by producing research-informed insights highlighting leadership challenges in various constituencies supporting women, Black, Asian, Hispanic and LGBTQ+ leadership equality. - In an unpublished double-blind survey of 3,000 global executives exploring the quality and value of thought leadership, IBV ranked #1 among technology consulting firms and in the top three among business consultants with respect to consumption, purchase intent and trust. In the same double-blind survey, 79% of US executives say they trust IBV thought leadership, and 25% say they have made a specific purchase decision based on IBV thought leadership. (Survey conducted in 2021 among CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, CSCOs and CFOs of organizations with average revenue of $28 billion.)
- IBV’s website traffic increased by 65% and engaged use increased by 53% since 2020, largely as a result of the valuable nature of our annual C-suite studies, along with COVID and diversity reports.
