Niagara's founder, Bill Cutler, was an obsessive tinkerer. As a champion of water conservation long before it was viewed as an important sustainability measure, that obsession often turned to household fixtures, specifically, toilets. “Why should something so simple be so wasteful?” That curiosity soon grew into an all-consuming quest to build the greatest water-saving products in history. Prior to Niagara, toilets used the same crude technology that existed for more than 200 years which wasted lots of water, were prone to breaking, clogging, and partial flushes.
Niagara’s idea was simple: create a flush that used the least amount of water while delivering a powerful and quiet performance. Niagara’s patented, award-winning Stealth Technology® has re-engineered the toilet's flush for a high-power, low-maintenance, no-waste toilet, saving more than 850 million gallons of water this year alone through its innovation. Stealth Technology has earned several national awards for its innovation and ability to continually deliver high-performance while minimizing water waste. Niagara continues to improve its efficient product design and challenge the industry to create more water-efficient products.
- If you are providing written answers to the questions for this category, you must answer this second question: Outline the nominee's thought leadership achievements since 1 January 2020 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

Making waves and pushing the status quo, Niagara’s 2021 product lineup became the first in the industry to carry a 15-year warranty. In further evolution, for the first time in company history, the product line was dedicated to the traditional wholesale channel and designed specifically with features and benefits for architects, builders, contractors, remodelers, and plumbing professionals. Bringing the new suite of products to the market in this fashion proved to be huge benefit to the industry as shown by the more than 70 wholesalers that have signed on to sell Niagara’s new product lines.
In a study conducted by Niagara and Plumber Magazine in early 2022, research feedback from 9,500 service plumbers and industry professionals found that more than 70% of plumbers and contractors agree that water conservation is important when choosing and installing toilets for their clients. In addition, water-saving toilets like Niagara’s not only help the environment, but they can help save money on water bills. The EPA estimates that water-conserving toilets can reduce water usage up to 60% every year, lowering monthly water costs and saving more than 13,000 gallons of water annually.
The 2021 new suite of products proves how Niagara continues to innovate, challenging themselves and their competitors to push the boundaries on advanced technology, high performance and improving on its mission to save the world’s water.
