    Business Support Systems innovation

In 2021, Ooredoo Group selected Ericsson as its next-generation digital transformation partner for Business Support Systems (BSS) solutions. Part of a five-year group frame agreement, the latest BSS solutions were deployed across several Ooredoo Group operating companies. The deployment equips Ooredoo with a new set of capabilities across its business operations in the customer, product, revenue and service management domains. The solutions will serve any type of customer or partner, network technology or chargeable event. For example, Ooredoo leveraged the Digital Monetization Platform, a convergent charging and billing solution, to monetize all network technologies (including 5G), all business models and all customer types. The platform facilitates Ooredoo’s digital transformation by enabling convergence, providing cost efficiency. These solutions drove innovations which boosted customer satisfaction through shortened time-to-market for new Ooredoo customer offerings, more flexibility and increased efficiency.

    Business strategy

In 2021 Ooredoo executed a strategic shift towards an asset-light financial model, which unlocked significant capital and sharpened its focus on delivering outstanding digital services to customers. It prioritized assets which enables it to deliver superior customer experience and shareholder value and reviewed opportunities to divest other non-core assets as appropriate. It also drove shareholder value through in-market consolidations. Examples:

    • Sale and leaseback agreement of more than 4,200 telecommunications towers valued at USD750 million with Edgepoint Indonesia
    • Successful merger of two giant telcos in Indonesia – Indosat Ooredoo and CK Hutchison, leveraging strong synergies to create a competitive number two operator in Indonesia (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison)
