Nomination Title: Bryce Maddock’s People-First Approach Leads TaskUs Through the Pandemic to IPO
Bryce Maddock is co-founder and CEO of TaskUs. He co-founded TaskUs in 2008 and leads the company’s international operations with a focus on building an unrivaled employee experience, believing that an incredible employee experience empowers TaskUs to attract and retain the best talent and deliver superior results to clients.
Over the course of his professional career, Bryce has been called one of the "Top Twenty Entrepreneurs in Their Twenties" by the Los Angeles Business Journal, "30 Under 30" by Inc., and won the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2019. Under his leadership, TaskUs has been recognized as one of the best places to work by Glassdoor, Comparably, Business Intelligence, Investors in People and several others. He has also been named by Comparably as “Best CEO” and “Best CEO for Women” each of the past three years.
Bryce serves as the Chair of the TaskUs Foundation that pays for the private education of our employee's children in the Philippines and sits on the board at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), an organization that provides entrepreneurial education to high school students in underprivileged communities in America.
Under Bryce’s leadership, TaskUs has long led the industry when it comes to its workplace culture thanks to its unique people-first approach. From the beginning, Bryce had an innovative vision of what a BPO could be, embodying a dynamic culture that puts people at the heart of TaskUs’s mission. Bryce’s unique vision for a people-first company pioneering the next generation of customer service experiences has led to rapid growth, even amid the challenges brought on every business by the pandemic. And in May 2021, Bryce announced that TaskUs would become a publicly traded company, leading it through an IPO filing.
From world-class working environments and benefits – such as optimally designed working spaces, D&I programs, fitness classes, clinical and psychological support for holistic wellness – Bryce has championed doing everything TaskUs can to make people look forward to coming to work, support their happiness and wellbeing, grow their careers and help them flourish. These efforts have enabled TaskUs to grow from just a few teammates in 2008, to a global workforce that is more than 27,500 strong – all while racking up numerous “best places to work” accolades from Glassdoor, Comparably, Investors in People and more.
In 2020, Bryce made the bold, proactive decision to move TaskUs’s entire global workforce to remote work in early March – ahead of most other companies across industries. He not only ensured that teammates had the equipment needed to be safe, comfortable and productive from home – he also doubled down on TaskUs’s commitment to employee wellbeing. TaskUs doubled its number of licensed mental health professionals, psychologists and trained life coaches available, and also developed new custom content and virtual programming (including one-on-one sessions, skills groups and outreach activities) available 24/7 to help create space to disengage from work.
Summary:
-Grew TaskUs to become a publicly-traded company
-Led TaskUs as one of the first (and only) BPOs to shift to its entire workforce to remote work in the face of the global pandemic in early March, 2020
-Led TaskUs in creating an industry-leading global resiliency program, back by science and clinicians to ensure employees’ mental health and wellbeing
-One of the only leaders in the BPO industry recognized as “Best CEO” and “Best CEO” by Comparably in 2020 and 2021 (score of 97/100 by employees)
-Led TaskUs to be named to Glassdoor’s “Best Places to Work” annual list
-Glassdoor CEO approval score: 99%
