Nomination Title: Viettel Telehealth- The remote supporting, consultation, medical examination and treatment system

During the outbreak of Covid 19, in April 2020, accompanying Ministry of Health to implement the project “Remote medical examination and treatment”, Viettel has completed TeleHealth platform after only 7 working-days from the date of project suggestion. Viettel's technicians and experts throughout 63 cities of Vietnam have focused their efforts on completing 1000 Teleheath points before the scheduled plan while still ensuring the quality.

Outstanding milestones:

On August 5th, 2020, Hanoi Heart Hospital operated the first online heart surgery in Vietnam for patients at Phu Tho General Hospital via Telehealth.

On August 27th, 2020, 300 satellite hospitals were connected with Bach Mai Hospital – this is the highest number of Telehealth connections so far.

On September 4th, 2020, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital organized an online surgery consultation through endoscopic surgery system with 3D technology for lower-level hospitals.

On 25/09/2021, only less than 3 months since receiving the mission, there were over 1000 provincial, district and communal health facilities across the country, connected to 27 upper-level hospitals. Remote medical examination and treatment at these facilities is taken place regularly and continuously. Up to now, Vietnam has more than 1,400 teleheath facilities.

Viettel Telethealth has contributed to reduce pressure for upper-level hospitals, thereby avoiding infection in the crowded place during pandemic:

-A timely companion of Viettel with the Vietnam Government during the Covid-19 pandemic to reduce hospital overcrowding, social distancing, and connect thousands of hospitals at upper and lower-levels, thereby supporting doctors and people in remote areas, island border. The satellite hospitals, even those at district level can handle difficult and serious disease, upper-level doctors also do not have to travel hundreds of kilometers to support lower-level ones.

Saving cost
-Minimize film printing and storing costs for health insurance, estimated at 900 billion VND/year
-Minimize costs of direct medical examination at higher-levels for patients and relatives, estimated at ten of trillions of VND/year

Viettel Telehealth has proven its capacity and social responsibility, and together with the health sector to make a strong step forward in digital transformation and is considered as one of the most prominent events in 2020.
