Empowered by Viettel Group and partners Vietinf – ITD, Vietnam Digital Traffic Joint Stock Company (VDTC) was established in July 2020 as the second player joined in the project for electronic non-stop toll collection (ETC). Its services named ePass which means easy pass every time, everywhere throughout a wide and convenient electronic toll collection nationwide.

ePass automatic toll collection service’s technology is RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), which uses radio waves to automatically identify motor vehicles when passing through the ETC lane.ePass services help vehicles travel through the toll booth without waiting for cash payment, maintaining a stable speed of traffic and saving fuel.

With a total of 35 automatic toll booths deployed within 6 months, ePass has contributed to a growth of more than 80% compared to the number of non-stop toll booths implemented in the previous 5 years, bringing the total number of ETC toll stations to 91 stations, reaching more than 40% of the number of toll stations nationwide.

Besides, to be able to put the system into operation smoothly, ePass has introduced the most modern technologies according to the standards of developed countries in the world such as: Optical character recognition technology (OCR) to help the registration of customers faster and more convenient; reduce time and reduce costs for post-inspection activities; Real-time billing system (OCS) researched and developed by Viettel, making payment real-time.

ePass targets to cover every customer from all over the country; therefore, it has been focusing on expanding distribution channel fast and widely. Its existing large mobile and sales coverage help it quickly gather 3,000 agents and 20,000 salesmen to provide customer support in 63/63 provinces of Vietnam. This is an encouraging result comparing to the other service providers in the country whose offices are only at their 44 toll stations.

ePass customers can also easily top up to transport accounts from 40 domestic banks, especially online payment solutions when connecting with ViettelPay Digital Bank.

In the near future,ePass plans to develop more utilities so that customers can have chance to experience more amazing services such as electronic payment in transportation via ePass account, services related to automobiles. ePass also willing to accompany with the State management agencies to build and develop all necessary platform in order to catch up with the trend of smart transport technology in the world and the region, thereby soon naming Vietnam among the top developed countries in smart traffic.

After 6 months of establishment, ePass has deployed 35 automatic toll stations, corresponding to 80% growth compared to results of previous 5 years, bringing the total number of ETC toll stations to 91 stations, reaching more than 40% of the total nationwide.

More than 600,000 customers used ePass after 4 months of launching services, better growth than the first provider (1 million customers after 5 years).

3,000 agents and 20,000 salesmen joined the network, covering 63/63 provinces of Vietnam, nearly 100 times larger than sales and customer care channel of the first provider (44 point of sales and approximate 100 agents).

Recognizing license plates at 99.8%, exceeding the KPIs of the State management agencies. Transaction processing time reduced from 0.6s to 0.2s, 3 times better than the first providers.

Customers' transit time reduce up to 60 times, contributing to minimizing congestion on highways and national highways.
