From our inception, VUMI® has rewarded agents' sales efforts with once-in-a-lifetime anual incentive trips. In 2019, nearly 300 agents achieved sales goals [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION], and qualified for our [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] 2020 Convention. COVID-19 derailed these plans.
Two years passed without conventions. In 2021, though progress was made in combatting the pandemic, the situation was not ideal. Against insurmountable odds, postponings and cancelations, [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] VUMI® could finally go forward: our 2022 South Africa Convention became a reality. VUMI® brought 194 guests from across the globe to South Africa, following strict COVID- 19 protocols of their countries and airlines. From March 9-11, [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] guests attended our VIP Summit – for a select group of agents [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION]. They enjoyed an extraordinary stay in Cape Town, with city tours, helicopter trip to the Winelands, and a catamaran experience around the coast – all before joining the main group on March 11.
From March 11-16, [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] guests attended our Main Convention [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] They enjoyed African cuisine, a day tour to the Winelands, and a “Choose Your Own Adventure Day,” (Shark Cage Diving, or visits to the Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain or Robben Island). A gala dinner was held at the historic Castle of Good Hope, where an Award’s ceremony took place to recognize the best performing agents/agencies, followed by a presentation with what VUMI has planned for the future. Then, all guests were flown to the Sabi Sand for two unforgettable Safari days. For the first time, the Convention was organized entirely by the VUMI Marketing team. A comprehensive communication plan was put into place, featuring weekly emails about South Africa, safe travel during the pandemic, itineraries, etc. Each guest received a pre-trip travel kit at their home.
The logistics were daunting, with guests arriving in Cape Town from more than 10 different countries. VUMI arranged all hotel bookings, saw to every detail: daily gift drops to guests’ rooms, dinners, tours and parties. The team also developed a Convention website in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and a Mobile App (VUMI® Events) that kept guests informed before and during the event. The hardwork has paid off: VUMI’s post-convention health insurance applications increased by 45% compared with pre-convention weeks.
