The company currently has four subsidiaries: MDC BuildPlus, Inc., MDC ConQrete, Inc., MDC Equipment Solutions, Inc., and MDBI Construction Corp.

The pandemic provided the impetus for MDC to accelerate industrialization, leverage on its pioneering digitalization initiatives, and rally its organization to remobilize quickly and ensure business continuity after a nationwide lockdown. MDC transformed challenges into opportunities to provide value.

Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) was integrated into MDC's value chain to improve safety, quality, and timely delivery of projects.

MDC went live with 55 digitalization projects while IT and logistics support were provided to over 4,000 personnel working from home, enabling flexible work arrangements with minimal disruption.

Cost management and capital efficiency efforts allowed MDC to achieve Full Year 2020 consolidated revenues of USD750M and Net Income of USD14M higher than 2020 forecast. MDC also managed to distribute its pre-COVID dividend commitment to Ayala Land.

MDC launched “Iisang MDC Tayo” (“We Are One MDC”) to keep employees resilient, motivated and united. Engagement, learning, and mental health programs were conducted to boost morale, productivity, and encourage continuing growth and development.

MDC complied with government-mandated health, safety, and welfare requirements, and also put in place stringent measures in remobilizing over 40,000 personnel, housing them in welfare facilities across 174 work sites.

MDC constructed 9 COVID-19 facilities, 296 RT-PCR swab booths, and provided relief for Taal Volcano eruption and typhoon victims. A total of USD4.5M worth of financial assistance was provided for over 56,000 workers and subcontractor employees. MDC employees launched its own donation drive for the community, collecting about USD243k and achieving employee participation rate of 98%.

Restarting and ramping up operations by remobilizing thousands of personnel while adhering to strict health and safety protocols is a monumental task.

MDC activated its business continuity plan and swiftly organized a COVID-19 Task Force to develop and implement stringent safety protocols, capturing best practices from other countries, including the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These protocols were also rolled out to 174 MDC worksites nationwide and over 2,100 subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers. MDC’s medical team conducted over 167,000+ check-ups and over 161,000+ COVID screening, surveillance, and diagnostic tests in the span of a year. These efforts prevented outbreaks at work and at home.

The values of “malasakit” (concern for others) and excellence fueled the MDC team to keep the company running and running it safely amidst the challenges. By laying the key strategies in 2020, it is set to deliver 37 projects including 18,030 residential units in 2021.
