CleverTap is a leading customer engagement and retention platform that helps brands maximize customer lifetime value. It was founded in 2013 by Sunil Thomas, Anand Jain, and Suresh Komdamudi with the vision to analyse large amounts of data at the click of a button. Consumer brands around the world representing over 10,000 apps — including Vodafone, Sony, MercedesBenz.io, Carousell, and Gojek — trust us to help them improve user engagement and retention and grow long-term revenue. The company is backed by leading venture capital firms, including Sequoia India, Tiger Global Management, Accel, and Recruit Holdings, and is headquartered in Mountain View, CA with regional offices in Amsterdam, Singapore, Dubai, and Mumbai.
Our purpose is to enable brands to unlock growth by combining real-time analytics, powerful customer segmentation, and a suite of engagement tools. We are on a mission to help build valuable, long term relationships with our customers by offering solutions that are designed to provide personalized experiences to end users. We are an integrated platform that provides data analytics tools to create impactful campaigns and end-to-end execution, making CleverTap one of the top partners of choice amongst other industry players.
The COVID-19 crisis accelerated the need for businesses to digitalize, making way for exponential growth in the mobile marketing industry. In the past two years alone, we have witnessed more than 100% YOY growth, achieved a reach of 1 billion devices, and successfully delivered $2 billion in incremental value to our customers.
Last year, as most brands downplayed marketing efforts across traditional media, mobile marketing took center stage and we added 162 new clients across sectors in the first half of 2019. Since then, we have added over 450 clients. Earlier this year, we were also recognized as one of Forbes’ Best Startup Employers for the second consecutive year.
On the client front, we have significantly contributed to five hyper-growth sectors including fintech, foodtech, media and entertainment, and e-commerce. Facing the realities of the pandemic, industries like financial services and healthcare needed to pivot and adapt to digital immediately. We took up the mantle to make sure all brands under these essential sectors were served actionable data insights, allowing marketers to devise smart strategies to service customers in the best way possible. To highlight a few brands, we helped PayMaya, Halodoc, and PharmEasy ramp up their digital businesses in a time when physical services were suspended.
Problem solving is at the center of our business and we make sure to provide creative solutions by sharing accurate data combined with real-time analytics with our customers. Especially when there was lack of physical access to essential services such as medical care, financial assistance, food, and entertainment. We ramped up our efforts so that our clients in these sectors, with the help of our data, insights, and omnichannel campaigns, could continue to deliver value to customers without interruption.
Some examples: by using our Tailored Segmentation Using RFM and User Behavior PayMaya, the only end-to-end digital payments ecosystem in the Philippines, increased app launches by 10X, resulting in an 18% boost in reactivations month-over-month.
PharmEasy, India’s leading online pharmacy platform, is on a mission to deliver essential medicines with just a click. Using our powerful segmentation engine and Journeys (a visual campaign builder) helped them achieve a 10x boost in campaign engagement, educating users about the availability of life-saving medications.
Halodoc, the official partner of the Indonesian health ministry for COVID-19 testing, saw a 50% user retention rate by using our analytical capabilities and engagement integration. They effectively optimized customer communications and helped users with doctor consultations, diagnostic tests, and purchasing medications.
In the entertainment sector, we helped YouNow, an interactive live streaming platform where users can create and share live content, achieve a 22% increase in weekly average users by using our segment breakdown for all campaign performance.
