It broke a new ground by transporting vehicles cross-continentally from Europe to Asia without any transit by using Marmaray.

OMSAN Logistics, which is the first private train operator that has railroad train operation authorization certificate in Turkey, performed the first automobile transportation from Europe to Asia via Marmaray and broke a new ground in its field, and performed the first cross-continental automobile transportation in the world. OMSAN Logisticspassed through Marmaray which has the deepest immersed tube tunnel that is used by rail systems in the world with 60 meters of depth and became the first company to transport automobile under the sea from this depth.

OMSAN Logisticstransported more than 200 automobiles to İzmit Köseköy via its 550 meters-long auto-transportation train which departed from Romania. Since Marmaray became operational for cargo transportation, OMSAN Logistics, who started to safely deliver cargos without transshipment and changing vehicles, aims to accelerate the country’s economy.

OMSAN Logistics, which is an OYAK company, delivered more than 200 automobiles, which were loaded on 550 meters-long auto-transportation train, from Romania to İzmit Köseköy. The vehicles departed from Romania and arrived to Turkey from Bulgaria via uninterrupted railroad and journeyed across the continents and arrived to their destination safely. Marmaray provides very important opportunities for logistics sector. Railroad transportation which gained even more importance during the pandemic as a safe and also uninterrupted transportation will also be one of the most preferred alternatives in the upcoming period.

While ensuring customer satisfaction, it is absolutely decisive outlining the market performance, indeed. However, if we talk about the indispensable and riveting components of this holistic process, we can mention the delivery on time, no damage rate, managing the fluctuations in the sector without letting it affect the customer.

Within these days, we have been living in VUCA world, its perception. Volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity. Facing non-stop fluctuations, becoming more difficult to predict how and what the necessities to come, multi-layered and intermingled needs and their repercussions and thing in grey, not precise or not clear. By not transferring the vehicles, by loading directly inside of the customer fabric and by bringing them directly to Turkey, we made possible minimizing the damage case, complying with time.

To carry out simultaneous transportations by different modes ( in the logistics sector in accordance with the needs and goals of the customer, while providing us with success and trust, it also provided the opportunity for our customers to reach their aims by maximum number of automobiles at the maximum level.

With this project; since railroad transportation is used instead of road transportation, carbon footprint is reduced, and considering the difficulty of finding vehicles and drivers in the sector, being able to transport automobiles via railroad, even cross-continentally, provided capacity increase, productivity and customer satisfaction, and alternative multimodal solution with a flexible structure is provided to the customer. While the operation of transporting even the regular products via railroad requires a separate specialization, we performed the cross-continent transportation operation of sensitive and high value products such as automobiles.
