I am Capt. Ammar Mubrakak Al Shaiba, a UAE citizen and the Acting Chief Executive Officer - Maritime Cluster & Chief Executive Officer - Safeen Feeders, part of AD Ports Group, one of the UAE-based leading companies and one of the Middle East's top 100 companies. I have more than 16 years of experience in top maritime and port management, leading some of the Abu Dhabi and the UAE's key companies to achieve strategic business objectives, financial growth, profitable acquisition and joint venture, tapping into new markets, rollout of new services and solutions, as well as promoting and elevating the internal working teams. As a leader of the Maritime Cluster, which is a key component of AD Ports Group and the Group's highest revenue generator, I have achieved some key milestones that drove the Cluster to expand. One of the companies I have led from scratch, including the conceptualization of its mandate, business objectives, expansion plan into new markets, is SAFEEN Feeders. Within two years, it moved from the loss [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] (it was first established in June 2020) into [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] profits in 2021 and [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] by forecast profits by end of 2022. Besides, the company achieved remarkable 225% growth of its fleet [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] and expanded its outreach from Abu Dhabi only to cover the whole UAE's ports as well as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Sudan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Western India and many global markets.
Thanks to the business model I and my team have followed and based on our sound strategy, the Maritime Cluster grew from two entities, namely SAFEEN (which provides offshore services) and Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, which prepares next generation sea pilots in the region, into now 8 separate entities within a few years. (Attached is a list of the companies). Our reputation as a world-class cluster has led some of the region's governments to contract us to address their needs. For instance, we have won a contract to furnish maritime solutions for the Shuaiba Marine Service (SPM) Operation of BOC (Basra Oil Company), which is the main crude export facility of Iraq. The mandate includes pilot, mooring berthing/ unberthing, and towage at Shuaiba Port.
As creativity is an integral part of a good CEO, I have initiated some innovative projects aimed at lowering the cost, ensuring efficient operations and protecting the environment. Some of these project (Attached is a detailed presentation) are: Cargo Operations by Self-Carrying Equipment (Reduced Manpower Cost), the introduction of Hand-Held As Part of Process Enhancement and Its Recorded Cost Savings [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION], the introduction of High-tech gear (Advanced Gear) to Improve Operations Efficiency & Productivity up to 60% while handling Paper Pulp, the rollout of IT Solution “MAWANI – Planning System” (Solution for General Cargo Terminals), the introduction of Introduce “Autonomous Technology” in General Cargo Terminal, and finally the introduction of Plan to Allocate Right Resources and Reduce Operational Cost [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION].
During my career, I have led several project focused on safety and environment protection. As one of the UAE's first sea pilots, I realised how much it is important to save the environment and protect the marine astonishing flora and fauna for generations to come. One of my other successful project that was part of the mandate area and set a new world record in the Guinness World Records was the successful demolition of the Mina Plaza towers in the Port Zayed area in Abu Dhabi. It is the tallest building, 144 floors, that was demolished within 10 seconds with explosives, which was carried out in coordination with all strategic partners, and in cooperation with the most prominent companies in the field of building demolition.
