Catalogic Software is a modern data protection company providing innovative cloud backup and recovery solutions, enabling IT and application development organizations to protect, secure and leverage their data. (www.catalogicsoftware.com)

The company’s CloudCasa https://cloudcasa.io/ platform is a cyber resilient, cloud native Kubernetes backup service that is easy to use, enables secure backups and data migration, and comes with a generous free service plan for the DevOps and cloud applications community. CloudCasa is Catalogic’s offering to the cloud native world allowing users to orchestrate storage snapshots on an unlimited number of cloud databases and Kubernetes clusters for free. CloudCasa is the only Backup-as-a Service offering that combines data protection and cyber resilience for the combination of containers, Kubernetes and cloud databases.

CloudCasa enables users to bring the management and security of Kubernetes and cloud database protection into a single pane of glass. CloudCasa is the only solution that supports both Kubernetes and cloud databases in a single platform and was built to create secure, air gapped data protection solutions that allow users to protect backup copies in a different access domain or cloud provider.

Today, cloud providers have no incentive to allow customers to migrate data or create backup copies elsewhere. Here’s an analogy. Backup is like the insurance industry, best obtained through a third party that has no conflict of interest. In this case, CloudCasa treats all cloud providers the same, and allows data mobility between different cloud providers and Kubernetes distributions, important in the world of business continuity.

CloudCasa provides a friction-free, cloud-aware service for multi-cloud users. For example, an Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) user can choose to backup to Azure without needing an Azure account and vice versa. CloudCasa also offers tamper-proof data protection across multiple clouds and puts cyber-resilience at the forefront of its solution. Customers have a choice to enable SafeLock, which blocks recovery points from being deleted during their retention period, even by APIs. Since backups are emerging as the new borders, this protects backup copies from ransomware and malware type cyberattacks.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

CloudCasa maintains a generous free plan where security scans are free and storage snapshots are orchestrated on unlimited number of Kubernetes clusters and databases for free. Users pay only when they need to transfer a backup copy to their cloud storage. Unlike cloud solutions that charge customers based on the size of their infrastructure, CloudCasa offers utility pricing and only charges based on the capacity users are actually protecting. And customers like it, with over 700 free plan users, of which the company projects to convert 10%-15% to paid users by year end.

Catalogic Software boasts a 95% customer satisfaction rating and enjoys an 80+ net promoter score. Catalogic holds 30 global patents and since the introduction of CloudCasa in November of 2020, improvements and new features have been added at a steady rate. These improvements have positively impacted the company and CloudCasa users have increased at a steady rate.

    Quote:

“Containers may seem like the latest buzzword, but they are here, and real, and IT operations needs the full set of tools to support the enterprise execution,” said Camberley Bates, Managing Director, Evaluator Group. “CloudCasa from Catalogic Software is bringing a focused approach to supporting the need for protection and snapshots in the Public Cloud, with an eye on the longer-term maturity that is needed for the enterprise.”

Adriano Pezzuto, Founder and CEO of Clastix.

“We are impressed by how CloudCasa delivers a simple user experience in an extraordinarily complicated world of Kubernetes data protection.”

“Application migration support requires users to use backup and restore workflows to migrate applications or data services between environments. This latest version of CloudCasa supports lift-and-shift migrations, application transformation, and cloud migration use cases,” said Enrico Signoretti, Research Product Manager, GigaOm. “CloudCasa enables heterogeneous restores between different storage classes, allowing the mapping of different storage classes within the CSI and EBS realm, and enabling DR-to-the-cloud migration scenarios.”

  6. You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

    Total 165 words used.

Unlike backup solutions that are retrofits, CloudCasa is a reimagination of cloud native backup. CloudCasa uses the strengths of public cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes to back up Kubernetes resources, create and manage snapshots of Kubernetes persistent volumes, and create and manage multi-region snapshots of cloud databases.

CloudCasa is built and supported by Catalogic which has an international network of partners, system integrators and resellers that sell and deploy its and works closely with technology partners such as IBM, Microsoft, NetApp, Pure Storage, RedHat and SUSE and with public cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and Digital Ocean.

CloudCasa provides a generous free service tier that includes a 30- day data retention period, with no limits on Kubernetes clusters, worker nodes, or data snapshots. CloudCasa completes the entirety of needed backup functions to protect multi-cloud, multi-cluster, cloud native databases and applications so users can realize the operational efficiency and speed of development advantages of containers and cloud native applications.
