SMAS is the first system to support the management of all activities at the educational institution, targeting users ranging from preschool to high school and Department of Education and Training (DOET) in Vietnam. It is designed based on the cloud computing platform, allowing centralized data management and flexible processing, meeting the demand for data communication between schools and levels.
For nearly a decade, Viettel has sponsored and supported the implementation of SMAS for 27,000 institutions across the country, equivalent to 115 billion VND. Sponsoring 100% free of charge for connecting, creating, maintaining accounts and enthusiastic support, with the aspiration to narrow the educational gap between rural and urban areas, and accelerate the process of digital transformation of education sector.
SMAS has been constantly upgraded to fully meet the regulations and guidelines of the MOET and government in the assessment and classification of students, teachers. Owned 250 various features integrated with channels such as SMS, web, mobile, SMAS has contributed to bringing significant benefits to different objects.

The results obtained after nearly a decade of implementation show that SMAS is an essential foundation that every educational institution needs to equip to promote digital transformation. Data on students, teachers, facilities, and school health…are standardized right from the start. It is an essential piece in the journey to build a common database for the whole education industry towards implementing the E-government architecture version 2.0 of MOET.
Thanks to the scientific systematization of data in the digital environment, schools can perform important management operations such as: classifying classes, assigning teaching, arranging schedules…remotely. This is especially useful in the context of the Covid-19; management and training activities need to be carried out in a digital environment to ensure the goal: Pausing school without stopping learning.
With SMAS’s success in Vietnam, Viettel has researched and deployed this platform in other markets such as: Haiti, Cambodia…In Cambodia, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport accompanied with Viettel to take advantage of this system to 3000 schools nationwide per year.
Mr. Vu Tien Tung, an expert from the Quang Ninh DOET commented: “Before deploying the SMAS, we have also deployed many software of MOET such as EMIS (statistics), PMIS (management of teachers and staff), VEMIS (management of students, timetables, facilities…). This software also provided and managed the information of schools, teachers, students quite full but we must install it on schools’ computers. The installation of this software is difficult, so the number of schools using it is limited”
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa, whose child is studying at Nguyen Hoanh Tu secondary school (Ha Tinh province) said: “The implementation of SMAS helped me not to spend a lot of time but still be able to update and monitor my child’s learning process more closely. I know the time my child went to school, his grades in each subject, his advantages and disadvantages…”
