We at Stateside Affairs strive to adapt and grow with social media not only for our own marketing purposes but also for our clients. In 2020, we hired our company’s first social media manager to keep up with the growing demand from our clients for social media as a result of the pandemic. To expand our own virtual reach, we decided to launch Live with Stateside Affairs across Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Our series covered important topics including women's entrepreneurship and the 2020 election and mail-in ballots. One of the most important livestreams was “COVID-19 Vaccine Q&A: A Bilingual Conversation,” where we shared the latest information in English and Spanish about the COVID-19 vaccines that had just begun being administered. We were honored to be joined by Andrea G. Martinez-Mejia, Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Department of Health. We also reposted this livestream in separate English and Spanish segments for optimal results, and the English version received a record-high of 17,200 total reach.
Besides our own social media content, we conduct social media marketing for a variety of organizations: In 2021, the entire Stateside Affairs team provided a full range of event marketing, planning, and production services for the 16th biennial convention for the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO. Skylyr developed social media content leading up to and throughout the convention days. Manuela posted content and responded to comments live while the convention took place. Our team scheduled, recorded, edited, branded, and captioned more than 60 guest speakers and panel session videos to be utilized throughout the days of the convention. Some examples available on Facebook are the Rooted in Legacy panel, the Reimagining a New World Beyond Borders and Across Oceans panel, and April Sims’ keynote speech, Washington State Labor Council’s secretary/treasurer. Twitter results include a total of 98 tweets (a 180% increase in average activity); 109,000 organic impressions (119% increase); 7,331 profile visits (20% increase); 110 mentions (168% increase); and 9,953 followers (an increase of 32 followers since the start of the event marketing campaign). One of the top tweets received 21,500 impressions organically.
Stateside Affairs bolstered the Housing Authority of the City of Elizabeth’s communications with residents and the media, including social media management from October 2020 to October 2021. To extend their social presence, we created Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube accounts and enhanced their existing Facebook page. Over the course of the year and compared to the previous year, the Facebook page gained 359 new likes (a 11,900% increase); 2,114 page visits (2,100% increase); and 17,164 reach (41,800% increase). To launch their Jobs Plus initiative in early 2021, Lisa coordinated and produced a livestream with several HACE speakers and special guests from HUD, which begins with a program overview video we produced. The livestream reached 2,900 people and is a one-of-a-kind production by a housing authority during the pandemic. Some other video content we produced include the Jobs Plus inauguration which we produced in early 2020 and posted to create excitement ahead of the launch in 2021, a motivational testimonial, and the success story series. HACE commended us in avideo testimonial that speaks to the value we provide our clients.
Laura and our team also launched a social media and podcast advocacy series for Dr. Patricia Campos-Medina, a nationally recognized labor and political leader. Activista Rise Up, a Finalist in the 2021 Reed Awards for Best Online Video Series, is our team’s first video series to be available on podcast platforms. It explores conversations with leader activists and everyday people to demand a transformation of our politics so that America can fulfill its promise to become a more perfect union with justice for all.
