James Lee-Tullis has established himself as a creative leader, operating at the highest international level with over 30 years’ experience in journalism, content and communication strategy, brand publishing and more. His career spans the worlds of editorial excellence and strategic content innovation, consistently helping major global brands connect with audiences in meaningful, measurable ways. Beginning his career in the dynamic and exacting world of financial journalism, James specialised in covering institutional investment and global custody, writing for and later editing a portfolio of leading publications focused on the securities industry. This was supplemented by contributions to a host of other channels, including the official publications of Swift, read by senior executives of the world’s largest banking institutions. His journalistic career led him quickly into senior roles where he had the opportunity to help shape the direction of branded content and customer publishing. Key highlights included supervision of the Asia-Pacific portfolio of American Express publications as International Editorial Director, including leading the launch of Centurion Magazine and Platinum Magazine in a host of markets – and later serving as launch editor of Departures Magazine across Asia-Pacific. He followed this with heading the launch of the American Express Centurion and Departures Magazine websites and social media channels.

Conceiving and leading the creation of American Express Essentials, James built a multi-platform lifestyle destination that continues to reach millions of readers across digital, social, and video channels. He was also a creative force behind the conception of the BMW i Pure Impulse Experience – a worldwide loyalty programme and content initiative for the high-net-worth owners of the BMW i8. The initiative ran for 10 years and represented a benchmark for brand experience and customer retention in the premium automotive sector. James’ expertise spans luxury, travel, food, automotive, finance, culture, and lifestyle. He has a gift for distilling brand purpose into editorial vision, leading international teams to deliver standout 360° digital content and communication strategies. He is equally at ease guiding influencer campaigns, launching branded video formats, or advising C-level stakeholders on long-term loyalty and engagement strategies.

Projects he has led have been recognised with numerous international honours, including two Gold Stevie Awards at the International Business Awards, as well as Content Marketing Awards, DPOK (the German Prize for Online Communication), Pearl Awards, Mercury Awards, and many more. Trusted by CMOs, agencies, and publishers alike, James is known for his clarity of vision, collaborative approach, and ability to unite creativity with business performance.
