Nomination Title: Melissa Belden

Melissa is the system expert for Autopaychecks HCM which serves 360+ clients. Melissa ensures that the software produces accurate results for every client’s payroll and payroll related tax reporting. This was an especially cumbersome task during the changes created by the governmental response to COVID. Melissa studied the laws (temporary and perinate) that resulted from CARES, FFCRA, ARPA, ERC and Colorado specific laws (PHEL, PSST and EPSL). She serves as the payroll expert on the local COVID Response Team, teaching business owners how to understand and be compliant. Melissa also authored a series of educational forms that allowed Autopaychecks clients to understand apply changes to their payroll structure.

Melissa Belden is an APA Certified Payroll Professional and is the System Support Specialist at Autopaychecks HCM, a regional HCM service provider, and has been with the team since 2015. Melissa’s current responsibilities include, payroll tax compliance with IRS, State and Local agencies, relationship management, and internal/external training with stakeholders. Melissa the is the current President the Western Region American Payroll Association and leads the CPP study groups in the spring and fall. Melissa also volunteers as a member of the Plateau Valley Fire Protection District. Melissa originally taught high school mathematics, and her ability to educate translates perfectly to her clients. She is driven by a thirst for knowledge and is able to imparts that knowledge to others. She is clear, concise and always reliable. She developed forms that summarized regulated compliance that helped clients add necessary updates to their HCM platform.

Melissa has established herself has an expert in the community. Her knowledge, continued education, and ability to clearly convey information has earned her the respect and following of Autopaychecks’ clients. She is dedicated to providing the right information to our clients and worked with the software developers of Autopaychecks’ HCM platform to ensure that all updates were made correctly. Reviewed PPP loan and loan forgiveness report templates, developed processes to ensure that the Autopaychecks team efficiently updated all 350+ clients, evaluated law changes (COBRA, ACA, Paid Leave, Taxes) that affect our payroll clients and ensured that they would remain in compliance. It has been a year of working 60+ hours a week to serve her clients.
