Since July 1, 2019, Kate has contributed enormously to Definitive Healthcare’s success. In the last year alone, she’s lead more than 10 product releases and launches to strengthen the Definitive Healthcare platform to better deliver healthcare commercial intelligence to a diverse customer base. As a result of her efforts, the company was named a 2020 SIIA CODiE Award winner for “Best Big Data Reporting & Analytics Solution” and a finalist for “Best Healthcare Technology Solution.”

One of her biggest achievements was being promoted to Definitive Healthcare’s first Chief Product Officer in December 2019. In this role, she’s supported and led the acquisition of two companies – PatientFinder in December 2019 and Monocl in October 2020 – to diversify and expand Definitive Healthcare’s product offerings. Additionally, she’s been recognized by numerous organizations for her contributions to Definitive Healthcare and her leadership abilities:
-Recognized as Worcester Business Journal’s “Outstanding Women in Business” in October 2019
-Inducted to the 2020 MM&M Magazine Hall of Femme
-Named to the inaugural Advent Leadership Academy in 2021

Kate Shamsuddin Jensenis the key architect in building the product strategy for Definitive Healthcare, a provider of healthcare commercial intelligence for over 2,500 clients. With nearly 15-years of experience, her knowledge of the healthcare industry, business acumen and intellect have propelled her rapid career growth and impacted Definitive Healthcare’s corporate growth. Kate graduated with a Master of Science in Health Policy & Management from Harvard’s School of Public Health. Before arriving at Definitive Healthcare in 2015, Kate established a proven track record within healthcare industry leaders (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Deloitte & Touche Healthcare Practice) and non-profit institutions focused on national health initiatives (RTI International).

When Kate first joined Definitive Healthcare, the company employed about 35 people. With her strategic eye and vision, Kate has helped grow the company to over 600 employees. Since 2015, Kate has been promoted three times, starting as Definitive Healthcare’s Director of Product Strategy in 2015, and then growing to Vice President of Strategy in 2016, Senior Vice President of Strategy in 2018 and Chief Product Officer in 2019.

According to a Forbes article, women are notoriously underrepresented at senior leadership levels within the health tech space. Only 9% of health tech startups are founded by women and women make up only 11% of partners in healthcare companies. Reaching the position of Chief Product Officer at the age of 33 in the health tech industry is a major accomplishment considering how few women hold C-level leadership positions. Her contributions have also helped Definitive Healthcare achieve 40-50% growth each year.

Outside of that, Kate has helped nurture the next generation of female leaders and supported diversity, equity and inclusion at Definitive Healthcare. Through her involvement with WE @ DHC and BIPOC @ DHC, she’s helping to foster a more open and inclusive environment at Definitive Healthcare that considers and values the perspectives of others.

Kate also truly believes in giving back to the local community. She was instrumental in the founding of DefinitiveCares, the company’s community service outreach program, and serves as the company’s ambassador for Boston Healthcare for the Homeless.

All these attributes have contributed to her achievements and success over the last few years and helped Definitive Healthcare grow from a startup with around 30 people to an established player in the healthcare commercial intelligence space with over 600 employees.
