Nomination Title: Dr. Lalaine Calonzo

The COVID-19 pandemic is a worldwide problem that is currently affecting the lives of millions. Each country and each locality faced severe challenges in containing the spread of the virus. However there are persons who are willing to lay down and sacrifice their time and lives for the greater good.

Such person is our nominee for the Delivery Hero of the Year Dr. Lalaine Calonzo.

Dr. Lalaine Calonzo is the acting assistant department head of the City Health Office. She is the officer who does the actual work in implementing the strategies and monitors the pandemic situation in the city. She is available 24/7, tireless and compassionate to her patients and co-workers.

Dr. Calonzo has done many strategies in controlling the pandemic situation in the city. She managed the screening of travelers who arrive in General Santos City through air and land transportation. She led the establishment of Temporary Treatment Monitoring Facilities in the city. She managed the establishment of COVID-19 Centers and Isolation Facilities in the city. She also managed the isolation and treatment of government workers.

Dr. Calonzo also monitored the entry of persons and travelers from land-based checkpoints in General Santos City. She also monitors the number of COVID-19 patients in the various barangays in the city. She managed the contact tracing process of COVID-19 patients through the City Health Office personnel in the different barangays.

Dr. Lalaine Calonzo also certifies COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the virus. She also supervises the proper burial process of dead COVID-19 patients.

In the span of four months starting in February 2020, the city through the efforts of Dr. Calonzo was able to keep the local transmission from spreading into the city. The latest data also shows that through the diligent efforts of Dr. Calonzo, the total cumulative numbers of COVID-19 cases was kept down to just 0.957 % of the total population in the city.

The dedication to work and the numerous lives that Dr. Lalaine Calonzo touched through her public service is the reason we highly nominate her as Delivery Hero of the Year.
