Nomination Title: Stop Bullying: Speak Up's Include Someone Make a Difference 2020 PSA by Cartoon Network
The date on which this nominated production was first distributed or otherwise made public:
October 2020
Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up pro-social initiative seeks to address bullying among kids, the #1 cause facing our audience. We do this by empowering kids to speak up safely and effectively in the face of bullying, while helping develop greater kindness, caring and empathy that stops bullying before it starts.
We wanted to inspire kids to help prevent bullying by including others and give them specific ideas on what they could do or say. Actionable ideas surfaced through kid-targeted research conducted by Cartoon Network and in consultation with non-profit partner PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. To ensure this year’s PSA reflected the new reality of kids today, we used a Zoom-style rendering and incorporated “real-kids” alongside some of CN’s most beloved characters.
Tapping into the global reach of its legacy Turner sister networks, strategic partnerships and digital platforms, the PSA was promoted widely in addition to airing on Cartoon Network, starting in October 2020, in support of National Bullying Prevention Month. The PSA garnered more than 150M impressions and secured more than $1.1M in pro-bono media. The PSA continues to air on Cartoon Network inspiring kids with real-life examples of how to stop bullying before it starts.
