Iapetus Holdings is a privately held portfolio of seven self-funded multimillion-dollar companies solving for some of the world’s most urgent needs around energy, safety, and sustainability. Iapetus’ diverse lens drives strategic thinking, innovation, and an entrepreneurial vision to age-old utility and energy problems by strengthening infrastructure, electric reliability, the economy, and future generations of professionals. Iapetus continues to give back to the community and is leaving a legacy for the next generation.
The first company, Atlas Commodities LLC, was created in 2006 to provide boutique energy brokerage services. In 2012, Atlas Retail Energy was created to solve the needs of commercial and industrial clients for procurement, supply, and transition to green energy. Identifying the gap in the market for new approaches to utilities’ vegetation management, Iapetus soon diversified the portfolio’s offerings to service energy sectors in innovative ways. Atlas Field Services and Gold Coast Utility Specialists set out to mitigate wildfires and make electricity more reliable and efficient. In 2021, Iapetus launched Soaring Eagle Technologies, an emerging-tech inspections company to apply carbon-friendlier technology to infrastructure inspections. Hyperion (HSE) was formed to raise the bar on health, safety, and environmental services provided to energy and utilities.

Iapetus runs seven profitable businesses across the country. Iapetus has created a 536% three-year growth rate and Atlas Field Services 1,618%! Iapetus recently hired over 200 new employees in twelve months, virtually doubling the headcount to 406, while leading a 63% diverse headquarters location. Additional achievements include closing large solar park deals that reduce carbon emissions and provide sustainable energy solutions to large commercial and industrial clients, launching two new companies in 2021 to address critical grid issues, and adding a European energy brokerage presence. This has provided market access to traders demanding international commodities, growing our list of active customers to 469. The diversified knowledge allows Iapetus to pioneer its way through all industries. In 2021, we formalized our companies’ corporate values. This is the ethos that identifies our T.E.A.M.S.: Transparency, Excellence, Agility, Meritocracy, and Safety.
Iapetus was recognized among the 2021 Diversity in Business Award honorees and the Top 50 Multicultural Leaders by the National Diversity & Leadership Conference. This year, Iapetus won the Company and Organization Platinum as well as the Entrepreneur category Titan Business Awards. In 2022, Iapetus Holdings topped the list of Houston Business Journal’s largest veteran-owned companies.

Solving for the country’s most urgent needs, all while expanding our expertise and constantly looking for new ventures is what keeps Iapetus… well, Iapetus. Never being completely satisfied is what makes Iapetus different from other players. Iapetus has found its footing and confidence in recent years due to its tremendous growth and recent achievements. We know what we are capable of.
Iapetus is unique among competitors, many of them established for many years in the industry, because of our expanded perspective. While many of them are exclusively “tree people”, for example, our bench brings a breadth of knowledge and perspectives in risk management that is unique to our firm. We look at utilities, not at the conductor level, but rather at the utility level. We have a broader perspective of operations and management that makes us a valuable asset in the industries we work in.
