In response to COVID-19 related school closures, PresenceLearning, the leading provider of live online special education related services, developed Teletherapy Essentials to train and support school-based teams who needed to serve students with special needs remotely. This was the first time the company opened up access to its proprietary teletherapy platform and clinical expertise to help school-based clinicians move to teletherapy.
With Teletherapy Essentials, school teams learn effective delivery of teletherapy and tele-assessment using the company’s award-winning FERPA and HIPPA compliant platform, designed by clinicians for clinicians specifically to serve students with special needs. Teletherapy Essentials programs include three training components:
-First, teams have access to online, self-guided modules to get started and familiarize themselves with teletherapy and tele-assessment, including comprehensive video tutorials using different activities from the platform.
-Clinicians then participate in live training led by PresenceLearning clinical experts to apply what they learned in the modules to real-world scenarios.
-There are also ongoing live online workshops led by PresenceLearning clinical experts to support clinicians as they tackle certain aspects of providing services remotely.
Along with the training and platform, Teletherapy Essentials comes with access to a suite of the most commonly used assessments, including the Woodcock-Johnson® IV and WISC®-V psychoeducational assessments. In addition, the platform provides clinicians with a library of games, activities and worksheets to personalize each student’s therapy, and a therapy command center to keep sessions on track. Additional features of the platform include high fidelity sessions with crisp, clear video and sound, the ability to maintain remote control of the student’s environment and refocus the student when necessary, dynamic camera and video modes to focus on multiple types of intervention, a synchronized collaborative workspace, and the ability for clinicians to easily and securely upload their own therapy materials.
PresenceLearning’s Teletherapy Essentials training plus platform is equipping school-based teams to stay connected with their students and maintain the continuity of care that is so critical to students with special needs. PresenceLearning moved swiftly to develop a solution that helps school teams deliver high-quality services to students in any setting, whether in-person or remote.
