This mission extends to our ESG strategy which houses our Social Investments pillar (Corporate Social Responsibility).
ServiceNow has been on a fast-track journey to enable sustainable and accelerated growth in ESG. The company started its ESG journey in 2020 and has seen immense growth since. ServiceNow’s social investment philosophy is directly connected to the topics most important to our stakeholders. We identified these during our materiality assessment.
Our strategy is focused on driving all our resources towards creating measurable impact in our four focus areas: Decarbonization, Digital readiness, Racial & Gender Equity, and Disaster Response. A key aspect of our investment strategy has been to acknowledge and respect the intersectionality of the four strategic focus areas. This includes utilizing our cash donations, in-kind technology donations, and our employee's passion to drive change.

Starting in 2021, we began to build towards an organic, holistic, and global approach to impact.
We began to form long-term relationships with organizations that embody our community engagement focus areas and have a high social return on investment, allowing us to accomplish the following:
2021
- Launched and fully distributed our 100M Racial Equity Fund in one year (2021)
- $1M investment to Benedict College, an HBCU
2022
- Increased our YoY companywide giving by 21.3%

- Reinvested ~$4.9M back into our Racial Equity Fund
Another key aspect of our strategy is our greatest asset, our employees. We put our employees at the forefront of localizing our efforts.
Since the beginning of 2021, we have:
- Revamped Global Impact councils in 20 of our offices around the globe

ServiceNow’s accomplishments are unique due to how fast we were able to build the program and mature it within a few years.
There are three main aspects of our strategy that have allowed us to be successful including integrating ESG into our business strategy, collaboration, and measuring our investments and impact.
ESG into our business strategy
We look at our platform holistically to determine how we can utilize our technology to help non-profits accelerate their goals and provide them with the resources to do so. When ServiceNow partners with an organization, we are building a multi-tiered long-term relationship.
Collaboration
To govern our decision-making criteria around grant making we have formed internal committees with Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Early in Career, and others to make partnership decisions.
Measuring our Impact
Within a few years, we have had an immense impact and have created a baseline that has allowed us to complete our first Total Social Impact assessment to understand how many people we have reached through our investments.
Our devotion to organizations that have a high social return on investment has ensured that we are able to set a long-term impact goal to reach a specific number of people by 2030.
