The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in the emirate of Abu Dhabi is the responsible entity in the government of Abu Dhabi infrastructure planning and development, ITC launched & Developed The (Birdseye Tool) an interactive visualization tool a manually combine outputs of analytics systems to share different screenshots of visuals accompanied by power point analysis to present to leadership for decision making on new project.
Before the implementation of (Birdseye tool), a huge amount of time was being wasted for the analytics team whose main task was analyzing data and not preparing presentations. In addition, leadership team had a hard time analyzing such printed maps and correlate the content together. Birdseye gives direct access to STEAM Data (Attachment No: 2) with a user-friendly interface through a unified window of visualizations. Providing functionality to explore/compare result maps and KPIs, assisting leadership in taking informed decisions. The model run results will be stored seamlessly in the data warehouse where it can be accessed through Birdseye displaying the STEAM model outputs to understand and compare the results. The Consultants can access Birdseye in Google Chrome in STEAM Machine with user authentication managed by specially designed user-management system specifying different access privileges.
The award-winning tool, receiving three different Red Dot Design award for its aesthetics, user-interface, experience and impact, is designed to give analytics team and consultants a nicely designed blank map, where they easily select the right data point for their story, combine different map layers through a state-of-the-art map configuration tool, and save the map part of the created project on the interface of Birdseye. Users can then share created maps with selected stakeholders with a click of a button who would then receive an email notification that a map has been shared. Compared to the manual process, this experience used to take 2-3 weeks; with Birdseye, it is just seconds.
For Stakeholders and leadership, they can navigate through studies or projects created on Birdseye, where each is connecting a list of pre-designed interactive maps. Each map is a story accompanied by a data dive with more details about the data to know more. Users can also compare between different scenario models, different time of the day, or select a historical time interval and map can automatically update linked to the main data warehouse. The comparison functions are equipped with instant aggregation of the data to show the differences whether positive or negative directly on the map.
The visualization tool, Birdseye, supports different stakeholders across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi from planning team, consultants analyzing trends across the network, forecasting future scenarios, and most importantly supporting the decision-making process of projects worth billions of dirhams that would shape the future of Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure network. Birdseye became the official access window to instantly visualized maps and stories showcasing simulations and future forecasts, in addition to accessing historical existing conditions with easy-to-use filters and comparison features. The tool is now on continuous development with new features and functions. New data sources are also being introduced to Birdseye on continuous basis, making it the most powerful knowledge center of historical data on Abu Dhabi infrastructure and its future forecasts, models, and projects.
