Genesis
USANA Health Sciences’ Americas and Europe Convention takes place in Salt Lake City each August, attracting thousands of home-based business owners from around the world unite to be the first to hear about new products, take part in valuable training sessions, and listen to world-class health and business experts. The annual event takes place at the Viviant Smart Home Arena and the Salt Palace Convention Center. The goal of USANA's Convention is to reward and re-energize associates with a fun and educational weekend full of events, celebrities and motivational speakers. While Conventions past relied heavily on the intimacy of an in-person event, 2020 and COVID-19 threw a wrench in the plans and forced USANA to call an audible. USANA’s Studios team took this challenge in stride to create a virtual, at-home experience that gave attendees everything they have come to expect from the in-person event and then some.
Goals
The main goal of USANA’s AEVC (Americas and Europe Virtual Convention) was to create something that was memorable. With amazing workshops, Q&A sessions, and amazing guest speakers like Kindra Hall.
All VIP ticket sales for the AEVC event were counted as direct donations to the USANA Foundation. In addition, all donations were then doubled by USANA, making sure USANA could help as many people as possible. With a goal of 100,000 meals for this convention, USANA worked closely with their long-time trusted partner, Children’s Hunger Fund, to make sure those families who need the food the most received it. USANA surpassed that goal and was able to provide 920,000 meals. That is 423% of the original goal.
Development
To help USANA put this "experiment" together, USANA partnered withWebb Integration, a full-service audio-visual company, to build a stage in a rented warehouse near the Home Office. USANA also teamed up withBrandlive, a real time interaction platform that combineslivevideo, chat-based social interaction, and custom conversion tools to create individual, customized event pages.
The sets and stage showcased the usual top-of-the-line bells and whistles: high-end audio visual equipment, an enormous LED wall, and a cozy interview set. And AEVC's filmed content was a blend of prerecorded, live, and live-to-tape.
