    This is an added feature to an existing solution, ParkMobile. The gated integration solution was launched in August 2021.

    Historically ParkMobile’s mobile payment technology was offered in on street and off street non-gated environments. Our gated integration allows us to offer ParkMobile customers and clients the ability for mobile payments to take place in gated parking facilities. Doing so creates an environment within a city or university where mobile parking payments can be used throughout the entire parking ecosystem—on-street, in parking lots, or in a gated facility. This is unique to the industry as clients are increasing the adoption of mobile pay and revenue for their parking operation and shifting towards touchless payment experiences.

    With ParkMobile’s gated ticket takeover integration, we wanted to bring a digital payment solution to the market that was innovative and contactless to enhance PARCS (Parking and Revenue Control System) deployments that include gates, exit kiosks, and pay on foot machines. Reducing the wear and dependence on equipment equates to longer equipment lifespans for our clients and shortened wait times for our mutual customers.

    With our solution customers already have a payment method in the ParkMobile app, cutting the number of actions at the exit kiosk in half and getting them out of the facility faster. Customers can easily pay for parking by scanning their ticket and paying via the ParkMobile app.

    The two-year project was built with input from our clients in mind and in coordination with multiple PARCS providers. Our clients and PARCS partners viewed the gated integration as an important and emerging industry trend. The gated integration increases customer adoption by providing more widely available payment options in the market.

    The goal with the gated integration was for parking operators to increase customer service at their facilities by providing a convenient payment experience in gated facilities. The benefits include a contactless payment solution, faster entry and exit thus reducing traffic and wait times, reduced wear and tear on equipment, and access to ParkMobile’s network of 30+ million users.

    Our clients view this as an opportunity to increase revenue and decrease operating expenses within their facilities. The integration also has allowed ParkMobile to enter new markets and expand in existing ones.

    One of the facilities that the gated integration is active at is DISTRITO T-Mobile, Puerto Rico’s premier entertainment venue. The integration of ParkMobile's contactless payment system helps eliminate long lines at the pay stations in the parking locations by simplifying the exit process. “By partnering with ParkMobile, we are providing an innovative digital solution and streamlining the parking process for our visitors,” said Daniel Perez, Marketing Manager of DISTRITO T-Mobile. “Although we’ve slowed down on events this year due to the pandemic, the integration of ParkMobile in our gated equipment has already begun and will continue to provide an even better experience for our guests.”
