Vojin (Voyo) Popovic was a 24-year-old immigrant from Montenegro when he started his New York City-based moving company in 2017. He had a single truck and the vision to become the largest and most-loved mover in the country. Today, the business has a national fleet of more than 200 of its signature pink trucks, a 600+ person workforce, and year-over-year revenue that has more than doubled annually since the company's inception.
Voyo started Piece of Cake Moving & Storage for two reasons:
1. He saw an opportunity in an old and traditional industry to improve systems, services, and the customer experience.
2. He wanted to create a workplace where people smiled – an environment and company that supported its people and valued their strengths and input.
By prioritizing the happiness of both its customers and employees, Piece of Cake has been named No. 104 on the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies with a 4,174% 3-year growth rate. Popovic's hands-on approach to his CEO role has him picking up a customer service call one minute and hopping on a truck to help out with a move the next. This enables him to observe the quality of the service being delivered.
Beyond giving back to his employees and customers, Voyo is driven to give back to the community. Since the inception of Piece of Cake, Voyo has donated logistical moving services and support to non-profits like St. Jude, The Pink Agenda, WIN and many other charitable organizations. Last year alone, Piece of Cake provided free moving & logical services worth over $300,000 for non-profit organizations, including its work delivering holiday toys to more than 7,000 children living in WIN shelters in NYC.
